A 38-year-old man, accused of raping his minor daughter, reportedly committed suicide inside a police station lock-up in Ratlam district, Madhya Pradesh. This incident was confirmed by officials on Thursday. The man was taken into custody on Wednesday night and was discovered dead, hanging from a toilet pipe at Namli police station, just 15 kilometers from the district headquarters, early on Thursday morning.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDOP) Kishore Patanwala stated that the man used the strings of his pyjamas to hang himself. The arrest was made several hours after the accused's 16-year-old daughter lodged a rape complaint against him at the police station.

A detailed investigation has been mandated into the circumstances surrounding the accused's death, as stated by Rural Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Vivek Sonkar.
