In a development stirring significant concern, two individuals, Raza Rafiq Memon and Shafi Bikhan Sheikh, have been remanded in police custody by a local court amid allegations of sexual misconduct and coercion at Tata Consultancy Services' Nashik unit. The pair, arrested on fresh charges, face accusations under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
This ongoing investigation, now spearheaded by a special investigation team, has seen the arrest of seven employees, including a woman HR manager. The accusations, laid by eight female employees, highlight disturbing allegations of harassment and religious coercion, purportedly ignored by TCS's human resources department.
Amid these grave allegations, Tata Sons and TCS have moved swiftly, enacting a zero-tolerance approach and suspending individuals alleged to be involved. The National Commission for Women has also set up a committee to probe further, while the city police caution against media revelations that might identify the victims.
