Trump's Optimism on Potential Iran Deal
U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism for a potential treaty with Iran, suggesting a deal might be reached and signed in Islamabad. Trump believed Iran has consented to most negotiations, including relinquishing enriched uranium. He hinted at possibly extending a U.S.-Iran ceasefire set for expiration next week.
In a statement to reporters at the White House lawn, President Donald Trump expressed optimism regarding a potential diplomatic agreement with Iran. On his way to Nevada and Arizona, Trump indicated that he might attend a treaty signing in Islamabad and that Iran had agreed to almost all terms.
An extension of the U.S.-Iran ceasefire, due to expire next week, was also hinted at by Trump. However, he remained hopeful that further prolongation may not be necessary should negotiations proceed favorably.
Highlighting a significant breakthrough, Trump claimed, without providing evidence, that Iran agreed to surrender the enriched uranium believed hidden after past airstrikes. The President's administration continues to strive for an agreement where Tehran would abandon its nuclear weapons program.
