Ceasefire Holds Despite Artillery Activity in South Lebanon

UN peacekeepers in Lebanon report no airstrikes since a ceasefire began, although artillery shelling continues. Israeli forces remain in position without withdrawal. The ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah began at midnight, marking the end of a 10-day conflict marked by heavy fighting, particularly near Bint Jbeil.

UN peacekeepers in Lebanon have confirmed the cessation of airstrikes following the recent ceasefire, although artillery shelling persists. However, the peacekeepers noted that Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) were continuing airspace violations in the area.

Tilak Pokharel, spokesperson for the UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon, also known as UNIFIL, reported these developments, highlighting that the ceasefire came into effect at midnight, halting a 10-day period of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

While no Israeli withdrawal has been observed, troops are still stationed in their positions, particularly in areas like Bint Jbeil, where intense fighting previously occurred. The peacekeepers will continue to monitor the situation closely.
