The Malaysian coast guard mobilized after receiving a tip about a suspicious vessel approaching the Penang coast. Despite pursuit, the migrants were dropped off by smugglers before escape.

Malaysia remains a key haven for Rohingya refugees facing severe repression in Myanmar. However, perilous journeys across seas are leading to dire repercussions, with numerous migrants feared dead or missing, drawing increasing concern from global organizations.
