Kamal Haasan, the leader of Makkal Needhi Maiam, asserted that genuine victory for women can only be attained if the 33% reservation is incorporated into the current seats in the Lok Sabha.
During his campaign for the upcoming assembly elections, Haasan stated that while the concept of reservation is supported, the existing framework might lead to a 'political reset' or a conspiracy against regional forces.
In a significant development, the union government's Constitution Amendment Bill proposing 33% reservation for women by 2029 and expanding Lok Sabha seats to 816 failed to pass, indicating a setback to their plans.
