In a reversal of a 2005 trial court decision, the High Court deemed the initial judgment unsustainable, fully attributing the negligence to the electricity authorities. The accident occurred when a young Pappu encountered an unprotected 11,000-volt transformer, resulting in severe injuries.

The court also mandated that the state electricity authorities cover all litigation costs, setting a precedent for holding negligent parties accountable. This decision underscores the significance of safety measures and provides redress for Pappu, with the board given a month's deadline to compensate him.
