EU Expands Sanctions: Targeting Iran's Blockade of Strait of Hormuz

The European Union has decided to extend sanctions against Iran, focusing on those impeding traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. In Luxembourg, EU foreign ministers discussed enhancing their naval mission in the Middle East, amidst ongoing threats to shipping by Yemen's Houthi rebels in the Red Sea.

The European Union has taken a decisive step by expanding sanctions against individuals obstructing the strategic Strait of Hormuz, an action announced by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on Tuesday.

During a pivotal meeting in Luxembourg, Kallas urged foreign affairs ministers to reinforce the EU's naval mission in the Middle East.

Currently, this mission is crucial in safeguarding ships from hostile actions by Yemen's Houthi rebel group in the turbulent waters of the Red Sea.
