Salim Wastik, a YouTuber who brands himself as 'Ex-Muslim' on social media, was apprehended by Delhi Police in connection with a long-standing case involving the kidnapping and murder of a businessman's son 31 years ago. This arrest adds an unexpected chapter to Wastik's saga, marked by security provided by Uttar Pradesh Police following a stabbing incident at his office earlier this year.
Operating for years under the alias Salim Wastik, the once martial arts instructor Salim Khan had evaded authorities by adopting new identities and relocating frequently across Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Despite his online activism as Salim Wastik, the past caught up with him when a crime branch, armed with tips and old records, managed to pinpoint his whereabouts and arrest him.
The tale traces back to 1995, when Khan, then working at a school, and an associate abducted and murdered a 13-year-old boy, resulting in life sentences handed down by a Delhi court in 1997. He had been on the run since 2000, until his recent capture, which followed a violent episode that gained State-level attention, involving attacks and subsequent police encounters.
