A 19-year-old woman's body was discovered hanging from a tree in Manikpur village early Sunday morning, under circumstances that suggest foul play, the police reported.
According to law enforcement, the young woman was last seen going to bed on Saturday night, but by morning, her body was located nearly 400 meters from her home. Additional Superintendent of Police, Brijnandan Rai, indicated that early evidence points to potential criminal activity. 'The victim's slippers and underwear, found 50 meters from her hanging site, coupled with visible body injuries, indicate possible foul play,' stated Rai.
Locals suspect sexual assault followed by murder, although authorities currently categorize it as a murder case, filed based on the woman's brother's complaint. Forensic teams are active, and should the autopsy confirm a sexual assault, charges will be adjusted accordingly. Investigations are ongoing, encompassing all potential angles.
