In a dramatic turn of events, two men arrested on theft charges managed to escape police custody in North Paravoor on Sunday. The pair, Russel from Pathanamthitta and Sooraj from Alappuzha, were taken for remand proceedings at the magistrate's residence.
Upon arrival in the evening for the legal formalities, the handcuffs were removed, allowing the accused to allegedly push a police officer and flee. Despite an immediate chase, they successfully evaded capture, prompting an extensive manhunt.
Police efforts intensified overnight, leading to the apprehension of Sooraj near a canal in Chendamangalam with the help of alert residents. Meanwhile, authorities continue their search for Russel, ensuring neighboring stations remain vigilant.
