A Taiwanese court imposed a T$150 million fine on Tokyo Electron's local unit and sentenced five individuals in a high-profile case of trade secret theft concerning TSMC's advanced chip technology.
The court cited violations of Taiwan's National Security Act, revealing that the secured information concerning TSMC's 2-nanometre process technology was found on the Japanese firm's cloud.
Tokyo Electron stated it would enhance secret protection measures, despite no findings of organizational involvement, while TSMC shares rose 3.7% post-ruling.
