C V Anand appointed Telangana DGP, to take charge on May 1

Senior IPS officer C V Anand was appointed as the DGP of Telangana on Tuesday. Anand, a 1991-batch IPS officer, currently serves as Special Chief Secretary to the Government, Home Department. He will take charge as Telangana DGP on May 1. ''C V Anand, Special Chief Secretary to the Government, Home Department, is transferred and, on selection, is posted as Director General of Police (Head of Police Force), Telangana, Hyderabad, in the Apex Scale of Rs 2,25,000 (fixed),'' an official order said. Anand began his police career as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in the Warangal Rural sub-division. The first nine years of his service were spent in naxal-affected districts, where he led operations and was involved in several encounters, it added. He was awarded the President's Gallantry Medal for his high-risk operations and role in countering naxalism. Anand also served as Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City. The incumbent DGP, B Shivadhar Reddy, will retire on April 30.
