In a dramatic encounter, northwest Delhi police have arrested a murder suspect known for enlisting minors to commit violent crimes. The accused, identified as Suraj (26) alias Kake alias Kana, was apprehended near Ashok Vihar's Prembari Pul early Wednesday morning, officials disclosed.
Upon being signaled to stop, Suraj abandoned his vehicle and attempted to flee. In a daring move, he fired at close range at the police, striking a head constable's bulletproof jacket and narrowly avoiding serious injury, according to a senior officer.
Fortunately, his firearm malfunctioned before he could fire a second shot. Police responded with a warning shot followed by a leg hit to subdue him. Suraj, linked to a recent murder in Wazirpur Industrial Area, has prior allegations of trying to manipulate juveniles into crime. Further investigations are ongoing.
