The Supreme Court delivered a slew of significant rulings on Thursday, pushing for legal amendments to support rape survivors in terminating unwanted pregnancies past 20 weeks. Remarkably, the bench deferred the hearing on a pivotal case involving substantial banking fraud linked to the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, moving it to May 8. Meanwhile, it expressed dissatisfaction with the government's failure to provide affidavits regarding unpredictable airfare fluctuations, highlighting the necessity for better regulatory oversight in the airline industry.
Among other critical orders, the Court appointed former chief justice Sanjiv Khanna as a mediator in a commercial dispute in Surat's textile market, reinforcing its proactive role in resolving major business conflicts.
