In a significant breakthrough, the Punjab Police announced Thursday that they have dismantled two espionage modules reportedly supported by the ISI. These groups utilized sophisticated, China-manufactured solar-powered CCTV cameras to transmit live feeds from critical military locations to handlers based in Pakistan.
The first module was disrupted by the Counter Intelligence Wing in Jalandhar, resulting in the arrest of one operative and the seizure of a Chinese CCTV camera equipped with a USB-connected solar plate and 4G capabilities. A second module, dismantled through a joint effort by the Kapurthala Police and a central agency, led to the arrest of two more suspects and the confiscation of devices linked to foreign handlers.
Police investigations revealed that these Chinese cameras are perfectly suited for 'off-grid' surveillance, effectively operating via solar power and 4G connectivity to bypass traditional wiring. The surveillance network was linked to a Pakistani handler known as 'Fauji', who financed the operations. The probe also uncovered connections to drug smuggling activities, further complicating the case.
