In a decisive action, Gurugram Police on Thursday seized a motorcycle burdened with 26 outstanding challans totaling Rs 1.05 lakh, officials reported. The operation is part of an ongoing initiative targeting repeat offenders.
The Hero Splendor was intercepted near Sector 4/7 Chowk after police checks revealed a long history of unpaid fines for violations like lack of insurance and improper number plates. The motorcycle stands impounded under section 167(8) of the MV Act for the non-payment of fines within the mandated 90-day period.
Law enforcement officials warn that stringent measures, including vehicle seizures, will continue to be enforced against those who disregard their legal obligations, emphasizing the importance of timely fine payments under the MV Act.
