Antisemitic Stabbing Shocks Golders Green: Terrorism Threat Level Raised
British police charged a 45-year-old man, Essa Suleiman, with attempted murder following an antisemitic attack in Golders Green. The government raised the terrorism threat level, highlighting a growing security risk. Suleiman faces multiple charges and is linked to a counter-radicalisation scheme.
British authorities have charged a 45-year-old man named Essa Suleiman with two counts of attempted murder following a violent antisemitic incident in Golders Green, north London, where two men were stabbed.
In response, officials elevated the national terrorism threat level to the second-highest, indicating a high likelihood of a terrorist attack in the next six months. Prime Minister Keir Starmer pledged to intensify protective measures for the Jewish community.
Suleiman, who has a history of violence and mental health issues, was also charged with possession of a weapon in public and a separate attempted murder earlier the same day in south London. Despite being remanded in custody, heightened security concerns about threats from foreign states prevail.
