Uttarakhand, Karnataka, and Tripura are leading the charge in India’s Jal Jeevan Mission, achieving impressive tap water coverage rates in rural households. These achievers secured between 86% and 98% connectivity, following recent MoUs with the Ministry of Jal Shakti aimed at revolutionizing rural water delivery.

Uttarakhand shines with almost perfect coverage, translating to 14.20 lakh homes equipped with tap water. Meanwhile, Karnataka, despite its status as a water-stressed region, has attained an 87% success rate. Tripura marks a meteoric rise from 3% to 86%, showcasing transformative progress within a short timeframe.

The mission, originally set for completion in May 2024, now targets December 2028 to ensure every household has access. With an emphasis on grassroots participation, these states are expected to accelerate implementation, ensuring sustainable water systems through reinforced community governance at village levels.
