A tragic incident unfolded in Rasulpur Dhaudi village as a man allegedly shot his father dead over a family property dispute, authorities reported on Saturday. The son, Riyaz, absconded following the alleged crime but was apprehended in the Dhaudi Bamba area late Friday. Police recovered a licensed .32 bore pistol purportedly used in the killing, alongside two live cartridges and a car in his possession.
The fatal shooting occurred on April 30 when 54-year-old Riyaz, a resident of the village, reportedly fired three shots at his father, Aijaz, aged 72, resulting in immediate death. Preliminary investigations indicated an ongoing family conflict centering on the sale of approximately 4.5 bighas of land initiated by Aijaz, which Riyaz contested, demanding his entitled share.
Following the incident, Riyaz fled the scene in a vehicle, prompting police to register a case at the Jani police station. The law enforcement team successfully arrested Riyaz late Friday night, resolving the search and advancing the investigation.
