The Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) has assured the Punjab and Haryana High Court that it will not take any coercive action against Trident Limited until May 4, 2023. The development follows a raid at Trident's premises, allegedly driven by political motivations linked to the company's Chairman Emeritus, Rajinder Gupta.
Gupta, a recent defector from AAP to BJP, reportedly influenced the scale of the raid, which involved more than 30 PPCB officials who acted without notice or evidence of environmental infractions. The company condemns the action as unprecedently coercive, misusing authority amid Gupta's political transition.
Trident is appealing for procedural transparency and the protection of sensitive data amidst fears of further undue coercive actions. Highlighting a need for independent oversight, the company is keen to prevent biased sample testing and wishes to shield investor interests from possible market repercussions.
