In a remarkable new documentary, audiences are given a rare glimpse into the world of Bhupen Hazarika through candid footage captured by director Bobbeeta Sharma 27 years ago. The work, titled "Bhupen Da Uncut," refrains from traditional narration, instead preserving the raw, intimate conversations with the musical maestro.

The documentary relies on unedited takes from a 1999 London trip, revealing Hazarika's reflections on his childhood, his influences, and his relationships, particularly with cultural icons Jyotiprasad Agarwala and Bishnu Prasad Rava, and his wife Priyamvada Patel. The film also includes his performance of "Manuhe Manuhor Baabe" by the Thames.

A rare highlight of the film is Hazarika reciting unpublished poems, adding a new dimension to his artistic legacy. Retracted from antiquated Hi-8 tapes discovered in 2024, the footage maintains its archival vintage while offering a memorable look at a cultural legend.
