The peaceful village of Meetli was shaken by a brutal incident on Friday night, as a beer party ended in tragedy. Authorities report that Sonu, a 40-year-old street food vendor from Dola, was allegedly murdered by three youths.
Preliminary investigations point to a suspected illicit relationship as the cause of the dispute. The crime scene bore chilling evidence, with Sonu's body discovered on Saturday morning, severely injured, near the remnants of the night's liquor bottles.
Police quickly acted, detaining the suspected assailants. Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Rai confirmed that the case was registered following a written complaint from Sonu's family, who reported him missing since Friday evening.
