The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) announced a significant change by integrating the General Trade and Storage Licence fee with the property tax system. This decision comes after the commissioner's final approval, aiming to simplify the compliance process for residents and businesses.
Initially approved in December 2025, the integration faced delays, leading to traders' concerns over separate licence fee payments. The MCD has now issued an order to activate the system within days, with the IT Department ensuring the system's seamless functioning.
Under the new system, property owners can pay licence fees with property taxes via the civic portal, eliminating standalone licences. Despite easing processes, licence holders must meet safety and regulatory obligations. MCD emphasizes ensuring premises safety, with negligence leading to legal liabilities.
