Austrian Baby Food Scare: Arrest Made in Rat Poison Case
A 39-year-old suspect in Austria has been arrested after rat poison was found in HiPP baby food jars across central Europe. HiPP recalled products from sales channels in Austria, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. Authorities launched a probe into suspected 'intentional endangerment of the public.'
An alarming incident unfolded in eastern Austria with the arrest of a 39-year-old individual linked to the contamination of HiPP baby food jars with rat poison. The jars had been stocked across various supermarkets in central Europe, triggering swift action from authorities.
HiPP, the baby food company involved, responded by recalling its products from SPAR supermarkets in Austria and partners in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The company maintained that their products were shipped in perfect condition, emphasizing no fault in their production process.
The Burgenland State Criminal Police, alongside prosecutors, initiated a detailed investigation into what is believed to be an act of 'intentional endangerment of the public.' Meanwhile, a pending expert report will determine the poison's toxicity.
