Major Poppy Straw Seizure Intensifies Anti-Narcotics Ops in Jharkhand

In two well-coordinated operations, Jharkhand police made significant strides in the fight against drug trafficking by seizing poppy straw valued at Rs 1.02 crore. The arrests and seizures were made in the districts of Chatra and Ranchi, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The first operation saw police apprehending Ajay Kumar Saw, 27, with 283 kg of poppy straw in Chatra. The narcotics, from which opium is derived, were intercepted in a tempo vehicle near Balvadohar village during a planned vehicle inspection.
A separate operation in the Tamar police station area resulted in the seizure of 400 kg of poppy straw abandoned in a forest. These operations underscore the ongoing law enforcement efforts to curb the transportation and distribution of illegal drugs in Jharkhand.
