Cross-Border Arms Smuggling Racket Dismantled in Amritsar

Amritsar Police have arrested four individuals linked to a cross-border arms smuggling ring, recovering seven pistols. The suspects allegedly collaborated with Pakistan-based smugglers using drones for delivery. Investigations continue to trace the network's wider connections. Affected weapons originate from Austria and China.

The Amritsar Police successfully dismantled a cross-border arms smuggling module, apprehending four individuals connected to the operation. Seven sophisticated pistols were seized. This was confirmed by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on Sunday.

According to the DGP, the suspects were in contact with Pakistani smugglers via social media. Drones were used to deliver illegal arms from across the border, which were then distributed to criminals in the region. The investigation is ongoing to uncover further associates within this network.

Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar revealed that the arrests and recovery of weapons were made possible through a meticulously planned operation, based on confidential sources. The accused, all well-educated and former salesmen, were residents of nearby areas and collaborated on directives from a Pakistan-based handler.
