The Shirdi police have apprehended Ashok Kharat, a self-proclaimed godman, during their investigation into a fraud case, an official reported on Monday.
Raosaheb Nanasaheb Gondkar, a farmer residing in Pimpalwadi, Shirdi, filed the complaint. He accuses Kharat and his wife, along with three others, of swindling him of Rs 5 crore since August 2023.
This marks the ninth case against Kharat, who is set to appear in Rahata court. His troubles escalated after previous arrests for alleged misconduct towards women, and investigations now extend to financial discrepancies, scrutinized by both an SIT and the Enforcement Directorate for money-laundering activities.
