Drones Intensify Sudan Conflict, Shattering Brief Calm
Drones attacked Khartoum airport amid a surge of assaults in Sudan's capital, marking a collapse of relative calm. Despite no reported injuries, the attack underscores drone warfare's pivotal role in the ongoing conflict. The violence continues to exacerbate an extensive humanitarian crisis.
Sudan's capital, Khartoum, has been rocked by renewed violence as drones targeted its international airport on Monday. This assault is part of a sudden wave of attacks disrupting a period of relative calm, according to eyewitnesses.
The return to turmoil occurs as the city was gradually recovering with civilians, governmental ministries, and international agencies resuming their activities after the army regained control in March 2025. Nevertheless, recent strikes since Friday have hit both military installations and civilian zones.
The latest drone attacks, believed to be orchestrated by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), further exemplify the devastating role of drone warfare in the conflict. The Information Ministry reported no casualties at the airport, yet the humanitarian crisis in Sudan remains dire, with deaths and displacements rising due to continued conflict and instability.
