Telangana Government Escalates Power Deal Probe to CBI

The Telangana government has opted to escalate the inquiry into suspected irregularities in power-purchase agreements made during the former BRS regime to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The move follows an in-depth examination of a report concerning these activities.

Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced that the inquiry was led by former Supreme Court judge Madan B Lokur, who submitted a comprehensive 114-page report to the state authorities. The document uncovers alleged manipulations and misuse of public money in transactions with neighboring states, focusing on the Bhadradri and Yadadri power plants' construction.

Simultaneously, the state anticipates announcing a plan to 'scientifically increase' land registration charges and has decided to include ITIs and polytechnic colleges under the upcoming Young India Skills University. Additionally, the administration revealed plans to develop solar plants and focus on agricultural procurement strategies.
