Tension Escalates: Afghanistan-Pakistan Cross-Border Conflict

Afghanistan accuses Pakistan of deadly cross-border attacks, hitting civilians and infrastructure. Pakistan denies the charges, counter-accusing Afghanistan of staging the events and citing previous attacks on its territory. Despite Chinese-mediated peace talks, tensions remain high between the two nations, both blaming each other for ongoing violence.

On Monday, Afghanistan accused Pakistan of carrying out cross-border attacks that resulted in civilian casualties, including three deaths and 14 injuries, in the province of Kunar. The offensive also reportedly destroyed infrastructure.

Pakistan's Information Ministry denied these claims, alleging that the attacks were staged and pointing to prior aggressive actions from Afghan territory. Pakistan highlighted incidents in March and April where attacks from Afghanistan claimed lives in Pakistan’s Bajaur district.

Despite previous Chinese-mediated peace talks aimed at de-escalation, the two neighbors remain locked in a cycle of blame and violence. Each side accuses the other of harboring militants and perpetuating conflict.
