Global Migration Trends: India's International Corridors Rank High

India's migration corridors to the UAE and US are among the top globally, according to the 2026 World Migration Report by IOM. The report highlights significant Indian migration to the US, driven by skilled workers and students, and identifies major corridors and male-dominant migration trends in Asia.

In a recent revelation by the United Nations agency on migration, India's corridors to the UAE and the US rank prominently among the world's largest migration routes in 2024. The World Migration Report 2026, released by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), signifies the growing landscape of global migration.

The report outlines that around 304 million people resided in countries different from their birthplaces by mid-2024, with India's migration trends playing a critical role. Notably, the Mexico-to-US corridor remains the largest, followed by significant movements from Afghanistan to Iran and Syria to Türkiye.

India's migration to the US, driven by a wave of skilled workers and students, solidifies its position as a key player. This corridor is noted as the second largest involving North America, emphasizing the role of the Indian diaspora in influencing bilateral relations and migration policies, potentially benefitting both nations.
