The Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to respond within two weeks to a petition challenging the opening of history sheet against Ashutosh Maharaj. Maharaj, linked to a high-profile POCSO case, questions police surveillance practices.
Appearing in court, Ashutosh Maharaj, president of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Nirman Trust, also seeks deletion from the police surveillance register. The court has set May 13 for the next hearing and intends to consider interim relief at that time.
Maharaj's legal challenges overlap with his role in the Shahi Idgah-Krishna Janmabhoomi dispute. Critics are skeptical following anticipatory bail granted to Swami Avimukteshwaranand, revealing tensions around allegations of misconduct during the Magh Mela.
