The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) made significant arrests on Tuesday, apprehending a police assistant sub-inspector and a middleman in Dungarpur district. The individuals were detained for allegedly accepting a Rs 1 lakh bribe, officials confirmed.
The suspects were identified as Madanlal, serving at the Cyber police station, and Dayalal Patidar, an ex-councillor operating as the intermediary. Director General of Police (ACB) Govind Gupta stated that the arrests followed a complaint from a citizen being extorted by the ASI.
The complainant was threatened with detention in a fraud case involving their daughter and son-in-law unless a payout was made. Following a verification process, the ACB set up a sting operation, successfully catching Patidar accepting the bribe for Madanlal. Subsequent arrests followed, solidifying the case, according to Gupta.
