Rushikesh Pawar, a 27-year-old undertrial from Dombivali, passed away while in custody at the Aadharwadi jail in Maharashtra's Thane district, stirring allegations of negligence from his grieving family.
Pawar experienced giddiness and struggled to breathe on Tuesday, leading to his transfer to a jail hospital and subsequently to the Central Hospital in Ulhasnagar. However, upon arrival, he was declared dead around 9.30 pm.
His family alleges delayed medical response, with claims that he was transported in a jail official's personal car rather than an ambulance, contributing to the tragedy. Authorities have registered an accidental death case, with investigations underway to determine the cause.
