Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule declared a significant reform regarding land records in newly urbanized areas on Wednesday. The move involves replacing the traditional 7/12 land title documents with property cards in zones integrated into municipal councils and corporations due to boundary expansion.
This shift targets improving legal accuracy and convenience for landholders, moving from agricultural to urban designation in such regions. Bawankule emphasized that the replacement will aid in property transfers and simplify the loan approval process with banks.
The state government is set to issue implementation orders, enhancing consistency in record-keeping across urban jurisdictions and eliminating disputes from dual recording systems, as officials explained.
