In a bold move, the Congress on Wednesday demanded a repoll in 50 assembly seats in West Bengal, citing alleged electoral manipulation that undermined the democratic process. Party leader Pawan Khera claimed the BJP played a significant role in orchestrating these actions, effectively compromising democratic institutions to swing results in their favor.

Khera accused the BJP of using the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) to manipulate electoral rolls, alleging that over seven crore voters across 12 states were affected. In West Bengal alone, 27 lakh citizens were denied due process, according to Khera. The Congress hopes the Supreme Court will step in, restore voting rights, and mandate fresh elections where required.

Expressing solidarity with Mamata Banerjee, Khera stated that the alleged electoral violations resemble a “manufactured verdict” rather than a legitimate voting outcome. As the political tension simmers, the INDIA Alliance, including Congress, remains firmly behind the call for electoral justice and transparency.
