In a tragic incident on the Yamuna river, two people drowned while four remain missing after a boat capsized, police reported Thursday. The incident occurred Wednesday evening near Kutubpur Patiya hamlet when nine individuals, excluding the boatman, were returning from a river island.
The boat reportedly lost balance and capsized around 7 PM. The boatman, Dheeru, managed to save three individuals, but six others, including five children, are still missing. Rescue operations, hindered by heavy rain, continue with efforts by the National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force.
Chief Minister Adityanath has mandated an investigation into the incident, emphasizing rapid rescue efforts and strict measures to prevent future tragedies. Compensation for affected families is assured, and senior officials have been directed to oversee rescue operations.
