In 2024, Delhi emerged as the region with the highest crime rate under the Government Railway Police (GRP), topping the list among states and Union Territories, as revealed by the latest data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

With 24.3 GRP cases recorded per lakh population, Delhi registered a concerning 5,315 cases, marking a rise from 5,176 in 2023 and 3,243 in 2022. Among the major states, Maharashtra saw the highest number of GRP cases, registering 20,519 incidents, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

Meanwhile, an overall total of 83,699 GRP cases were reported across India in 2024. Despite a slight decrease compared to the 83,877 cases in 2023, Delhi remains a central focus due to its crime rate, significantly higher than the nationwide rate of 6.0.
