Tributes paid to Tagore in Shanghai on 165th birth anniversary
The Indian Consulate General in Shanghai on Thursday led the Indian community and admirers of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore in paying homage to him on his 165th birth anniversary. Tagore has a vast following among Chinese intellectuals. Shanghai is special to Tagore as he visited the city thrice between 1924 and 1929.
The Indian Consulate General in Shanghai on Thursday led the Indian community and admirers of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore in paying homage to him on his 165th birth anniversary. Paying floral tributes at the Tagore bust on famous Maoming Street and his statue in Lu Xun Public Park, Indian Consul General Pratik Mathur highlighted the significance of strengthening people-to-people exchanges, the consulate said in a statement. Tagore has a vast following among Chinese intellectuals. Shanghai is special to Tagore as he visited the city thrice between 1924 and 1929.
