Poll enforcement drive in Kerala leads to seizures worth Rs 80.67 cr

Enforcement activities linked to the Kerala Assembly elections resulted in the seizure of cash and contraband worth Rs 80.67 crore, the Election Commission officials said on Thursday. The Election Commission shared details of seizures made in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Kerala and Puducherry, where Assembly elections were held recently. In Kerala, cash worth Rs 6.07 crore was seized since February 26, 2026, when the Election Seizure Management System (ESMS) was activated, an official release said. Apart from this, 8,28,248.33 litres of liquor worth Rs 2.51 crore were seized. Similarly, drugs worth Rs 58.47 crore and precious metal objects valued at Rs 2.25 crore were also seized. Freebies worth Rs 5.33 crore were also recovered from the state. The Assembly election in Kerala was held in a single phase on April 9, and the results were announced on May 4.
