UP: Undertrial prisoner dies during treatment in Etawah
A 45-year-old undertrial prisoner lodged in the central jail here died during treatment on Thursday after his health deteriorated, officials said. According to officials, Sharma had been arrested by the Pachhayagaon police station in connection with a theft case and was sent to jail as an undertrial prisoner.

A 45-year-old undertrial prisoner lodged in the central jail here died during treatment on Thursday after his health deteriorated, officials said. Jail Superintendent M P Singh said the deceased was identified as Sanjay Kumar Sharma, a resident of Akoda village in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh. According to officials, Sharma had been arrested by the Pachhayagaon police station in connection with a theft case and was sent to jail as an undertrial prisoner. Singh said Sharma's condition worsened on Wednesday evening, following which the jail administration admitted him to the district hospital for treatment. He died during treatment on Thursday morning. The police said the deceased's family has been informed. The body was sent for post-mortem examination after completion of legal formalities.
