Road crash leaves two dead in Kanpur
A 40-year-old man and his six-year-old daughter were killed, while eight others seriously injured after a speeding loader rammed into an auto-rickshaw on the Rasoolabad-Kanpur road here, police said on Sunday. Police shifted the injured to the Community Health Centre in Rasoolabad, where doctors declared Deepu and his daughter Naina, residents of Kahinjari village, dead.

A 40-year-old man and his six-year-old daughter were killed, while eight others seriously injured after a speeding loader rammed into an auto-rickshaw on the Rasoolabad-Kanpur road here, police said on Sunday. The accident took place near the Kahinjari substation on Saturday night. The auto was carrying 10 people. The collision was so intense that the auto was mangled, a local resident said. Police shifted the injured to the Community Health Centre in Rasoolabad, where doctors declared Deepu and his daughter Naina, residents of Kahinjari village, dead. According to family members, Deepu was travelling with his wife Sonam (35) and daughters Gehna (10) and Naina to attend a ceremony when the accident took place. Five of the injured were later referred to the district hospital after their condition turned critical. Police have seized both vehicles and detained the loader driver for questioning. The auto driver, who was also injured in the crash, is admitted to a private hospital, Station House Officer S N Singh said. ''The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination. Further legal action will follow after a formal complaint is received from the family,'' he said.
