Thane Prepares for Monsoon: Safety Audits Ordered

In a proactive move ahead of the monsoon season, Thane Collector Shrikrishna Panchal has issued directives for safety audits on vulnerable infrastructure including bridges, culverts, and old buildings.
During a recent monsoon preparedness meeting, Panchal stressed the need for strong disaster management strategies and urged the recruitment of more disaster volunteers to ensure swift response during emergencies. Key government departments such as the Public Works Department and the Water Resources Department have been tasked with executing detailed inspections of critical infrastructure.
The District Planning Committee is set to allocate funds for essential rescue equipment, as authorities also focus on reviewing landslide-prone and flood-prone zones. The fire brigade, police, and health sectors have been mandated to conduct 'colour rehearsals' to test the mobility of response systems across all talukas.
