Controversial Arrest Sparks CBI Investigation into West Bengal Aide's Murder

The counsel for Raj Singh, arrested in connection with the murder of West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's aide, has welcomed the CBI's involvement. Allegations against West Bengal Police include procedural errors during Singh's arrest. The CBI was brought in following a state request amidst claims of Singh's wrongful framing.

The arrest of Raj Singh, linked to the murder of Chandranath Rath, an aide to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, has sparked controversy as his counsel welcomes a CBI probe into the case.

Singh’s lawyer, Harivansh Singh, accused the West Bengal Police of bypassing legal procedures during his client’s arrest in Ayodhya, where officers allegedly should have obtained a transit remand for his transfer to West Bengal, but instead took him directly to Kolkata.

The CBI has now taken over the murder investigation, responding to a request by the state government, amid claims from Singh's mother accusing the police of framing her son in Rath's May 6th assassination.
