The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated a probe into the alleged paper leak of the NEET (UG) 2026 examination, conducted on May 3. This move comes after the National Testing Agency (NTA) annulled the exam due to oversighted malpractice claims presented by central agencies.
The NTA revealed that the decision to cancel and reschedule the exam arose from inputs received on May 7 regarding suspicious activities, which were processed for verification by central authorities the following day. Having evaluated the findings, the NTA, with government approval, opted to annul the exam.
The exam initially took place across 551 cities in India and 14 international locations, accommodating approximately 23 lakh candidates. The NTA assures that a new exam date will be announced, maintaining their commitment to fairness and transparency in the selection process.
