Despite the IMD's report indicating no immediate cyclone threat, the Odisha government has instructed all departments to remain on high alert, ensuring comprehensive cyclone preparedness. The directive was issued by Chief Secretary Anu Garg during a high-level review meeting focused on pre-cyclone measures.
Anu Garg emphasized the necessity of upholding Odisha's reputation for disaster readiness by adhering to protocols and efficiently communicating information during emergencies. State department officers have been tasked with crucial responsibilities, including reservoir management, road and power restoration, maintaining safe drinking water supplies, stockpiling essential commodities, and ensuring operational emergency response systems.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of timely cyclone warnings, particularly to fishermen, along with strengthening inter-departmental coordination for effective disaster management. Officials continue to prioritize the 'Zero Casualty' mission, knowing the state's vulnerability to unpredictable cyclones due to geographical conditions.
