West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has declared tough measures against unauthorized factories after a fire at a factory in Tiljala resulted in two fatalities. A recent investigation unveiled that the factory operated without proper legal permissions or basic safety measures.
Speaking to the press, Adhikari stated the state government has decided to initiate strong punitive actions. The structure, lacking an approved building plan, had bypassed critical fire and electrical safety regulations. Consequently, the factory owner and another individual have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Adhikari directed the power utility, CESC Limited, to sever electricity connections for factories operating without sanctioned plans. Additionally, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has been instructed to terminate water services and dismantle the illegal structure promptly.
