Saket Bar Association Backs Delhi Lawyers' Strike for Justice

The Saket Bar Association has announced its support for the upcoming lawyers' strike across Delhi courts, scheduled for May 14, in protest against perceived inaction by the Delhi High Court regarding advocates' demands for enhanced court infrastructure and working conditions.

On Tuesday, the Coordination Committee of All District Court Bar Associations of Delhi called for the strike, urging abstention from judicial work. The association released a circular appealing to its members to join the protest, emphasizing the bar's role as a crucial stakeholder in the justice system. They stressed that decisions affecting advocates, litigants, and district courts must involve the bar's consultation.

The association's demands include increasing the pecuniary jurisdiction of district courts, safeguarding advocates' professional rights, and ensuring a consultative approach to policy formulation. The coordination committee expressed concern over the High Court's alleged disregard for bar associations' suggestions, affecting numerous litigants and lawyers. The association called on its members for unity and cooperation to support the larger interests of the legal community and justice delivery.
