Senior IPS officer Ravindra Singh Yadav has been appointed as the Director General of Police for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The announcement was made by the Union home ministry on Wednesday.
Yadav, a 1995-batch IAS officer from the AGMUT cadre, previously served as the special commissioner of police in Delhi, overseeing Law & Order in Zone 1. He takes over the position from Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, a 1997-batch officer, who will now move to New Delhi.
Throughout his career, Yadav has been pivotal in various high-stakes criminal investigations and has led efforts in technology-driven policing. His predecessor, Dhaliwal, was known for his work on high-profile cases, such as the Dhaula Kuan gangrape and the Sidhu Moosewala murder case.
